A B O U T  P I O T R

Welcome to my page!

First, a little bit about my background: I was ordained in 1992 in beautiful Krakow as a Dominican priest. However, soon after that I was called to make my more independent spiritual journey. I needed to leave the safe harbour of the Roman Church, with its particularly Polish flavour. It was not for me. I sailed from Rome to Canterbury passing those who were making their journeys in the opposite direction. I was received into the Church of England in June 1998 and I continue my ministry at St John the Divine, which is a part of Richmond Team Ministry (www.richmondteamministry.org).

In the current, Anglican context I particularly highly value freedom of theological reflection, the role and responsibility of lay people in parishes, space for various spiritualities and understanding of the Eucharist as a Sacrament that heals us and lifts us up. It is my great joy to be a part of a Church that like Christ - is vulnerable and inclusive. It is great to belong to a community where we respect other Christian denominations and where we may encourage for instance our brothers and sisters to follow their Christians vocations, including a call to the three orders of ministry.

The sporty, important element of my life is my passion for  Surfing

My academic interests are focused on formation of Christian Doctrine in the period from the 2nd to the later 4th century CE, particularly in Alexandrian milieu. See more in:

My interests include Christian Gnosticism, Hellenistic Judaism and Neoplatonism

In addition I am learning Sahidic Coptic in order to explore more Christian documents from Egypt in late Antiquity. I enjoy my time at the University of Chichester as associate lecturer (see below)
